Build More Housing Without Ignoring Neighborhoods

• Support additional housing near transit, commercial corridors, and other locations that can accommodate greater density.

• Expand affordable and workforce housing so more of the people who work in and contribute to Ward 2 can afford to live here.

• Use the zoning and development-review process to consider traffic, infrastructure, affordability, pedestrian safety, and neighborhood context.

• Encourage productive redevelopment of underused properties while giving residents clear information and meaningful opportunities to participate in major development discussions.

Keep Our Neighborhoods Safe and Well-Maintained

• Work with the 18th Police District, residents, and local businesses to address recurring public-safety concerns throughout Ward 2.

• Expand behavioral-health crisis response so police are not the only option for qualifying nonviolent mental-health emergencies.

• Invest in violence prevention, youth programming, and other strategies that address the causes of crime alongside immediate public-safety needs.

• Improve follow-through on rats, sanitation, noise, dangerous intersections, park conditions, and other quality-of-life concerns.

• Build a ward office known for responsive constituent service and clear communication with residents.

Business & Workforce Development

• Help Ward 2 businesses navigate city licensing, permitting, zoning, and public-way requirements.

• Reform outdated or unnecessarily burdensome city rules that make it harder to open and operate responsible businesses.

• Support efforts to reactivate vacant storefronts and strengthen neighborhood commercial corridors.

• Connect residents with workforce-development, apprenticeship, and job-training opportunities.

• Use city economic-development tools to support businesses that invest in their workers and communities.

Make It Easier to Get Around Ward 2

• Work with CTA and CDOT to improve bus reliability and rider information along major Ward 2 corridors.

• Support bus-priority improvements where congestion consistently slows service.

• Improve dangerous intersections and pedestrian crossings using proven street-safety tools.

• Expand protected bike lanes to fit surrounding street networks in neighboring wards.

• Better manage loading, deliveries, rideshare traffic, parking, and other curb uses in congested areas.

Make City Government Work Better

• Provide accessible, responsive constituent services throughout Ward 2.

• Track unresolved city service requests and push departments for timely responses.

• Communicate proactively about construction, development, street closures, and other neighborhood disruptions.

• Use City Council’s legislative, budget, zoning, and oversight powers to turn neighborhood concerns into concrete action.
